Halloween 2007
This year, with all the “rawrs” that David’s been gleefully exclaiming for the past few months, Sheryl and I thought a lion costume would be a favorite for Halloween. Complete with a tail and mane, the outfit carefully picked out by his parents was emphatically refused by David, despite dress rehearsals by Mommy and Daddy the weeks before Trick or Treat night. Instead, with a quick face paint with stripes and simply keeping his favorite “I Love My Mummy” “noo shuht” (new shirt) on from that day, David headed out with contemporaries Anna “Witchy Poo” and “Little Red” Isabelle (and meeting up with Sophia “Dressed Like an Angel”) to take in his first aware Halloween. (Along the way, fellow parents smirked at an alternate costume that was mentioned: “Dr. No No.” He really didn’t want to wear the lion!)
A little overwhelmed, but still excited, he was comforted by familiar neighborhood faces and his parents’ outstretched hands while watching all the ghouls, goblins and superheroes collect treats from house to house.
We suspect, however, that he may ask to wear his costume in the weeks ahead. “RAWR!”
